COVID-19 antibody testing scam warning

We want to make all of our partners aware that, currently, coronavirus (COVID-19) antibody tests are still in development and none have been approved in a laboratory setting.

Antibody tests are blood tests designed to show whether people have had coronavirus (COVID-19) and are now immune.

The Care Quality Commission have information that suggests some providers are offering coronavirus (COVID-19) antibody testing to both patients and staff and believe some providers might be charging large amounts for these. Please be aware of this, in case any of staff or patients get offered these tests.

Unapproved tests can potentially be misleading by providing inaccurate or inconsistent results. This could put those tested and those around them at risk of contracting coronavirus (COVID-19) and transmitting it to others.
