Early Help Practitioner Forum (Mid and East)

10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event Type

The forum that was scheduled for Friday 25th Feb has been postponed to the following week – Friday 4th March.

This month we are delighted to be joined by Dave Monk from The England Illegal Money Lending Team.

“The England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) more commonly known as the Stop Loan Shark team are a government law enforcement agency whose remit is to investigate, prosecute & convict Illegal Money Lenders (loan sharks) and to provide specialist support for their victims and any person affected by them.

Loan sharks target the most vulnerable in our communities, charge extortionately high interest rates (the highest we have known being 4.5 million %) and can subject borrowers to intimidation, harassment, threats, violence and much worse.  The talk will cover who the IMLT are , what a loan shark is and how they operate, the affects that they have on borrowers and how you can spot and help a potential victim or person affected by them.”

We are also joined by Abi Tokens who is the Homeless Prevention Officer for Young Devon, covering East Devon.

Abi will give us a valuable insight into the amazing work of Young Devon and the wide range of support and services that they offer. This includes –

  • Providing young people with information about their housing options.
  • Referring young people to supported housing providers.
  • Support with accessing other services that may help the young person stay at home, move on in a less stressful way or provide support beyond housing need.
  • Plus lots more!!

We hope you will find both presentations useful in supporting the young people and families that you work with and look forward to welcoming you on the 4th.  Please book through Eventbrite using the link below.
