New special school places

The delivery of special school places remains a priority for Devon County Council.

We are pleased to announce that the new ACE Tiverton School will open in September 2019 following a £4.2m investment, offering 70 places for secondary aged pupils with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ACE).

Devon has now secured assurances from the Regional School Commissioner that the new special school planned in Newton Abbot, Glendinning, will open in September 2020 and a planning application has already been submitted with building work starting in the summer. Alongside other investment in existing schools, this means nearly 500 additional special school places will have been delivered in Devon since 2016.
